A third use tablets for surfing the web

Over a third of people accessing the internet do so with a tablet, according to new research.

Some 36% of internet users go online with their tablets, a study by the Internet Advertising Bureau UK (IAB) Digital Adspend and online audience measurement company UKOM/ComScore showed.

More than a quarter of British consumers now have a tablet, with ownership of the mobile technology growing 63% year-on-year to 17.9 million Britons in February, the study showed.

Tesco enters the tablet battle – at £119

Tesco's new seven-inch tablet computer, the Hudl, goes on sale next week.

Next Monday's launch is being seen by industry experts as a major move, with the supermarket giant going head-to-head with the Kindle and iPad armed with its £119 Android-operated gadget.
