Fiesta tops new car sales chart

New car sales accelerated ahead in 2013, with the Ford Fiesta topping the charts as superminis once again proved popular with drivers.

Some 113,417 Fiestas were sold during the 12-month period, putting it miles ahead of any other model on the market.

Its sibling, the Ford Focus, came second with 81,791 sales, followed closely by the Vauxhall Corsa in third with 77,861.
